Tips for Writing Your Own Self Esteem Affirmations

Here are a few tips for you if you want to write your own Self Esteem Affirmations.

  1. Write your affirmations in the present tense. That means your statement should be something like "I am confident and self assured" and not "I am going to be confident and self assured".
  2. They must be written in the affirmative, that is, only use positive words like "I am", and "I do" and skip words like "don't", "stop", "no" and "not".
  3. They should be written in the first-person, in other words, the "I" point of view. Here is a short article about the differences between first person, second person and third person.
  4. Your affirmations should be about making positive change and moving toward what and who you want to be.

Here are a few examples:

"I'm confident and self assured, I can handle any situation that faces me."

"I take action everyday that leads me to my goals."

"I feel good about myself and forgive the mistakes of the past."

"I feel incredible joy and gratitude."

Of course, you should create your own affirmations based on how you want to feel and what you want to overcome.

Remember to keep them in the present tense, keep them positive, written in the first person, and focused on the change you want.
