Your Desire For A More Confident Self

Some interesting thoughts on building your self confidence.

The primary step required to achieve confidence, and perhaps the most vital, is making your own mistakes. Mistakes will teach you many of the lessons you need to learn in life. This way you will constantly build on your self confidence.

To start with, you need to come to the place where you don’t care what others think of you. If the fear of the opinions of others are keeping you from doing what you want, then you need to change your feelings and have fun doing what you want. This is one way to build your self esteem.

The next step is to have fun. People who are self confident are happy with who they are. If you hate your life and are constantly depressed, you definitely won’t be happy with who you are. This is why you should go out and do everything you’ve always wanted to do.

Treat yourself well. Don’t wake up in the morning and just leave. Actually take some time on yourself. Whether this means putting on makeup or just washing your face and treating it well, just do something. Taking care with your body has a huge effect on who you are. If you feel amazing, you will definitely turn heads.

Before you begin writing your self esteem affirmations, you need to define your standard for building self-esteem. Make it a lifelong commitment, and confidence will become a natural part of your beliefs and your actions. Just make sure that you come up with a list of actions that you believe to be typical of a confident person.

Self Hypnosis Technique

Here is a simple technique to put you in a relaxed state that is conducive to self hypnosis.

To try this self hypnosis technique, simply sit or lie down on a comfortable chair or couch and close your eyes. Then, while breathing steadily, try to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Completely relax your body, visualize each muscle relaxing if you have to, and consciously relax your body from your toes to the top of your head. When you are completely relaxed, try to slow your breathing down even more, as low as you can get it. When you feel completely relaxed, that's when you are in a prime hypnotized state and it's at this time that the actual hypnosis method is used.

Tips for Building Self Esteem

Here are some more tips on building your self esteem.

Have you ever met a person who felt that he is worth nothing and could do nothing right? If you have, then you should know that it is possible that the person is suffering from a case of low self esteem.

Now, before we get deeper into what causes this, we need to understand what self esteem is. Self esteem is a character trait that psychologists feel is the most enduring of all other traits. Self esteem is an assessment of how you feel about yourself and can also be referred to as self-worth or self-regard.

There are theories which associate self esteem to motivation in a person and are a related to the need for respect from others and the need for self respect. However, more modern theories suggest that self esteem is a way to measure our acceptance in our social environments. Some of the most common symptoms of low self esteem are an inability to express ones feelings, lack of personal boundaries, denial and blaming others for everything.

You Are What You Think

Here is an excerpt from and article my brother-in-law shared with me.

4 steps to creating your perfect world using the power of thought

According to neuroscience studies, the adage that you should "be careful what you ask for" has more teeth to it than you might imagine. Your brain is very good at attending to whatever you direct it to. It's kind of like when you go to buy a car and you think you're the only person in the world who will have that shiny, bright purple VW Bug; then you drive it off the lot, and it seems every other car is just like yours. The Bugs were always out there, but it took a focusing event to get them onto your radar screen and noticed by you.

Thoughts, goals and ideas work the same way, and you can increase your brain's considerable input on them if you learn to ask your brain nicely and deliberately to get involved. You can create your perfect world if you know what you're looking for and--perhaps more importantly--if you pay attention to how your brain is fed.

This process works with negative thoughts, as well. As I teach in classes on emotional intelligence, crap will find you all day long, especially if you expect it. It will parachute into your office without an invitation and typically won't leave when you want it to. You don't have to go looking for it. It will find you. If you are dwelling on the bad stuff, it will find you more quickly and readily, and you won't be primed for the things that will make you successful. Good things need to be noticed. We generally have to be more deliberate about the positive. Your brain will help you find innovative ways to do it. Just prime it, and it will be there for you.

Affirmations for Attracting Money

Since having enough money can be so tied to our Self Esteem, here is a great article on Affirmations for Attracting Money.

Affirmations can help you focus your mind on money, motivate and inspire you to do something about having more money, and also become more aware of opportunities to make money.

The problem is that most people want money, but they:

  • Don’t feel they deserve money.
  • Don’t really believe they can make more money.
  • Are afraid to take the necessary steps to make more money.
  • Have low self-esteem.
  • Think negative thoughts that don’t let money come in.
  • Focus on their current financial condition, instead of focusing on how they want their financial condition to be.

For affirmations to work you need to affirm with faith and belief, not just repeating words and waiting for miracles.

Feel the truth of the affirmation when repeating it. Let it inspire and motivate you. Keep an open mind and take advantage of opportunities to make the affirmation come true.

Affirmations are a great tool, but you need to back them up with positive action, persistence, doing things, and not being afraid of effort.

Try Affirmations for Improving Self-Esteem

Have you tried using affirmations for self-esteem yet? Building healthy self-esteem is an important part of living and growing a wonderful life, which is why I recommend using affirmations as part of your self improvement program.

Affirmations, also known as declarations, are not magic or us asking some mystical being to intervene in our lives, but they allow ourselves to take control of what we want and deciding that we can be in charge of how we think and live. Declaring the truth you desire is the perfect way to do this.

They are easy to come up with using some simple to use rules, and they are easy to perform. You can say them out loud several times a day, you can read them on sticky notes or flash cards or you can record them on at tape or CD and listen to them while you are working or doing chores. You can listen in silence or just have them playing in the background.

Here are a few basic self-esteem affirmations to get you sarted. Say them like you mean them, it may feel funny at first, but they will become more comforatble the more you repeat them.

   1. I love myself and others love me too.
   2. I want you to know that I'm awesome!
   3. I’m brilliant!
   4. Everyday in every way I get better and better.
   5. The more I know myself the more I like myself.

Try to say these declarations at lease once or twice per day and you will see amazing changes in yourself and your life.

What is Self Esteem?

Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs (for example, "I am competent" or "I am incompetent") and emotions such as triumph, despair, pride and shame. Self-esteem can apply specifically to a particular dimension (for example, "I believe I am a good writer, and feel proud of that in particular") or have global extent (for example, "I believe I am a good person, and feel proud of myself in general").
