Repeat Your Affirmations Daily

The following is from a post by John Assaraf from "The Secret" about affirmations. I am currently taking a course from John called Winning the Inner Game of Business Success. It's a really amazing program, and I can already see and feel the changes after just about one week.

Every time you read or listen to an affirmation, it becomes a stronger force in your life. Repeat your affirmations at least twice a day—morning and night. I find myself repeating my affirmations throughout the day, repeating them over and over. Soon you will have most of them memorized.

Are you affirmation positive or negative? We may not always be aware of it, but we all create and repeat affirmations constantly. The problem is, we typically don’t pay attention to exactly what those affirmations are saying. Often we go through the day giving ourselves all sorts of contradictory, or even negative messages. We may project confidence to the world around us, while our inner dialogue says… I hope this works. I am so nervous about this. I hope I don’t blow it. Affirmations are self fulfilling prophecies. If we say, This is never going to work… then chances are excellent it never will.

Get into the feelings, emotions and associations you have with affirmations. Feel so jazzed up about what you are saying that you feel like it is already there. When you are able to really get into that feeling place, this is when the new neural connections are created. It is essential to remember emotions, clarity and feelings are the key ingredients to creating effective affirmations that will produce results in your world.

The Power of Affirmations: How to Talk to Yourself

Here is a great article on the principles of building your daily affirmations. The author presents some important tips on how to create them correctly. If you already have some affirmations you are using, it's a good idea to review them after you read this, and make any adjustments that will improve them.

Six Principles of Positive Affirmation

Now that you have a basic idea of how to monitor your self-talk,  let’s look at six principles for building your daily affirmation exercises:

   1. Action Based

The best affirmations are those which suggests specific actions instead of just wishes like “I want to be more confident.” Instead, ask yourself what you would actually be doing if you were more confident, and use those verbs to build your affirmation. For example:

“I approach strangers with grace and enthusiasm.”

   2. Identity Based

Whenever possible, focus your affirmations more on changing your identity than on achieving goals. Yes, you want to achieve your goals as well, but always ask yourself what kind of a person you need to become in order to achieve your goal and build your affirmations around that.

   3. Affirmative

Instead of making your affirmations about what you want to stop doing, what you want to lose or what you don’t want, make them about what you do want. Whenever possible, use words like: can, will, want, gain and am instead of words like: can’t, won’t, don’t, lose, stop and quit.

This will encourage you to focus on the result that you want instead of the results you want to avoid.

   4. Specific

Your subconscious mind does not respond to vague requests and commands, so it’s important for you to be specific in your affirmations. This is another reason why action based affirmations are more effective. They give you something specific to focus on instead of stating their wishes like

“I am confident and assertive” or “I am wealthy and financially secure.”

TIP: Ask yourself exactly what you want to accomplish, determine what you have to do to accomplish it and build your affirmations around those specific answers.

   5. Practice

The most common reason why people fail in using positive affirmation is that they don’t practice them on a consistent daily basis.

You can read the whole article here.

Once you've written your affirmations you can learn how to use them in the article below.

Self Esteem Affirmations to Improve Your Life

I'm not sure if I shared this already, so at the risk of being repetitious, here we go.

One way of improving your life and how you feel about yourself is by using Self Esteem Affirmations. Many of us suffer from a poor self image or low self-worth, often stemming from our childhoods. We could discuss more about where these feelings come from, but I'd prefer to focus on what we can do about them.

Let's start by defining what an affirmation is. It's simply a declaration that something is true. The purpose of using them is to help us focus on a desired positive outcome, or change the way we think. Here are a few tips on how to create your affirmations:

  1. Keep them positive, avoid words like "don't", "can't" and "never".
  2. Make them short enough to remember without looking at them.
  3. Use words that you connect with on an emotional level.

Here are a few examples of my favorite affirmations:

  1. Every day in every way, I get better and better.
  2. I am totally adequate for all situations.
  3. I release all criticism.

How to Gain Self Confidence

When I was younger, I had absolutely no self confidence, and very low self esteem. There really wasn't any information available to me at the time, I didn't even know what the problem was. Thank God there are so many resources to help us out today. Below are 3 tips to help your confidence quickly.

3 simple strategies to get you feeling confident quickly:

  1. Think specifically of the time/place/situation you want to feel confident in. Remember 'confidence' doesn't mean anything until you attach it to something specific.

  2. Focus on words in your mind right now that describe how you do want to be in that time and place. Maybe words such as 'calm', 'relaxed' or 'focused'. Remember your brain works on clear positive instructions.

  3. Close your eyes for as long as you like and think about how those words feel. Then, imagine the situation itself and rehearse it in your mind feeling confident and relaxed. This way you set the right blueprint or 'task' for your unconscious mind.

I would really appreciate if you would visit my blog on self esteem affirmations and leave a comment and suggest an article that I could write for you.

Thank you in advance for helping me out!

Visualize The Life you Want

One of my favorite personalities from the movie "The Secret" is John Assaraf. Here is a little snippet from one of his recent articles.

Success at attaining any goal can be measured by how effectively you are able to move an idea from your conscious (imagination) to your subconscious (belief/action). That is why visualization is so important. When you visualize something in your conscious mind, your subconscious doesn’t know that it is only in your imagination. It watches the movie taking place in your thoughts and accepts that they are actually happening in that moment.

I own several of his audio's, one of which I listen to very often. It contains some really wonderful affirmations, then he presents the affirmations subliminally

Self Esteem Affirmation to Start Your Day

I found another great affirmation to boost your self esteem. Try this out for a week or two and see how you feel!

This amazing self esteem affirmation is a great way to start your day. Reading it out loud will help boost your confidence and give you the ability to meet the challenges of the day with courage and compassion for yourself.

My Declaration of Self Esteem

I am Me.

In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me. Everything that comes out of me is authentically mine, because I alone chose it.

I own everything about me: my body, my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all my actions, whether they be to others or to myself.

I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears. I own my triumphs and successes, all my failures and mistakes.

Because I own all of me, I can become intimately acquainted with me. By so doing, I can love me and be friendly with all my parts.

I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me, and other aspects that I do not know -- but as long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for solutions to the puzzles and ways to find out more about me.

However I look and sound, whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is authentically me. If later some parts of how I looked, sounded, thought, and felt turn out to be unfitting, I can discard that which is unfitting, keep the rest, and invent something new for that which I discarded.

I can see, hear, feel, think, say, and do.

I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world of people and things outside of me.

I own me, and therefore, I can engineer me.

I am me, and I am Okay.

Your Desire For A More Confident Self

Some interesting thoughts on building your self confidence.

The primary step required to achieve confidence, and perhaps the most vital, is making your own mistakes. Mistakes will teach you many of the lessons you need to learn in life. This way you will constantly build on your self confidence.

To start with, you need to come to the place where you don’t care what others think of you. If the fear of the opinions of others are keeping you from doing what you want, then you need to change your feelings and have fun doing what you want. This is one way to build your self esteem.

The next step is to have fun. People who are self confident are happy with who they are. If you hate your life and are constantly depressed, you definitely won’t be happy with who you are. This is why you should go out and do everything you’ve always wanted to do.

Treat yourself well. Don’t wake up in the morning and just leave. Actually take some time on yourself. Whether this means putting on makeup or just washing your face and treating it well, just do something. Taking care with your body has a huge effect on who you are. If you feel amazing, you will definitely turn heads.

Before you begin writing your self esteem affirmations, you need to define your standard for building self-esteem. Make it a lifelong commitment, and confidence will become a natural part of your beliefs and your actions. Just make sure that you come up with a list of actions that you believe to be typical of a confident person.

Self Hypnosis Technique

Here is a simple technique to put you in a relaxed state that is conducive to self hypnosis.

To try this self hypnosis technique, simply sit or lie down on a comfortable chair or couch and close your eyes. Then, while breathing steadily, try to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Completely relax your body, visualize each muscle relaxing if you have to, and consciously relax your body from your toes to the top of your head. When you are completely relaxed, try to slow your breathing down even more, as low as you can get it. When you feel completely relaxed, that's when you are in a prime hypnotized state and it's at this time that the actual hypnosis method is used.

Tips for Building Self Esteem

Here are some more tips on building your self esteem.

Have you ever met a person who felt that he is worth nothing and could do nothing right? If you have, then you should know that it is possible that the person is suffering from a case of low self esteem.

Now, before we get deeper into what causes this, we need to understand what self esteem is. Self esteem is a character trait that psychologists feel is the most enduring of all other traits. Self esteem is an assessment of how you feel about yourself and can also be referred to as self-worth or self-regard.

There are theories which associate self esteem to motivation in a person and are a related to the need for respect from others and the need for self respect. However, more modern theories suggest that self esteem is a way to measure our acceptance in our social environments. Some of the most common symptoms of low self esteem are an inability to express ones feelings, lack of personal boundaries, denial and blaming others for everything.

You Are What You Think

Here is an excerpt from and article my brother-in-law shared with me.

4 steps to creating your perfect world using the power of thought

According to neuroscience studies, the adage that you should "be careful what you ask for" has more teeth to it than you might imagine. Your brain is very good at attending to whatever you direct it to. It's kind of like when you go to buy a car and you think you're the only person in the world who will have that shiny, bright purple VW Bug; then you drive it off the lot, and it seems every other car is just like yours. The Bugs were always out there, but it took a focusing event to get them onto your radar screen and noticed by you.

Thoughts, goals and ideas work the same way, and you can increase your brain's considerable input on them if you learn to ask your brain nicely and deliberately to get involved. You can create your perfect world if you know what you're looking for and--perhaps more importantly--if you pay attention to how your brain is fed.

This process works with negative thoughts, as well. As I teach in classes on emotional intelligence, crap will find you all day long, especially if you expect it. It will parachute into your office without an invitation and typically won't leave when you want it to. You don't have to go looking for it. It will find you. If you are dwelling on the bad stuff, it will find you more quickly and readily, and you won't be primed for the things that will make you successful. Good things need to be noticed. We generally have to be more deliberate about the positive. Your brain will help you find innovative ways to do it. Just prime it, and it will be there for you.

I highly recommend you read the rest of the article at http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/217224

Affirmations for Attracting Money

Since having enough money can be so tied to our Self Esteem, here is a great article on Affirmations for Attracting Money.

Affirmations can help you focus your mind on money, motivate and inspire you to do something about having more money, and also become more aware of opportunities to make money.

The problem is that most people want money, but they:

  • Don’t feel they deserve money.
  • Don’t really believe they can make more money.
  • Are afraid to take the necessary steps to make more money.
  • Have low self-esteem.
  • Think negative thoughts that don’t let money come in.
  • Focus on their current financial condition, instead of focusing on how they want their financial condition to be.

For affirmations to work you need to affirm with faith and belief, not just repeating words and waiting for miracles.

Feel the truth of the affirmation when repeating it. Let it inspire and motivate you. Keep an open mind and take advantage of opportunities to make the affirmation come true.

Affirmations are a great tool, but you need to back them up with positive action, persistence, doing things, and not being afraid of effort.

Affirmations for attracting money

Plenty of money is flowing now into my life.

Every day I am getting more and more money.

I am a money magnet.

Many money channels are opening for me.

I am now earning a lot of money.

My thoughts about money constantly attract money into my life.

I always earn more money than what I spend.

I love to look at my wonderful bank statement.

I always have great practical ideas for making money.

I feel joy, knowing I am attracting money into my bank account.

The affirmations about money that I repeat attract money to me.

Try Affirmations for Improving Self-Esteem

Have you tried using affirmations for self-esteem yet? Building healthy self-esteem is an important part of living and growing a wonderful life, which is why I recommend using affirmations as part of your self improvement program.

Affirmations, also known as declarations, are not magic or us asking some mystical being to intervene in our lives, but they allow ourselves to take control of what we want and deciding that we can be in charge of how we think and live. Declaring the truth you desire is the perfect way to do this.

They are easy to come up with using some simple to use rules, and they are easy to perform. You can say them out loud several times a day, you can read them on sticky notes or flash cards or you can record them on at tape or CD and listen to them while you are working or doing chores. You can listen in silence or just have them playing in the background.

Here are a few basic self-esteem affirmations to get you sarted. Say them like you mean them, it may feel funny at first, but they will become more comforatble the more you repeat them.

   1. I love myself and others love me too.
   2. I want you to know that I'm awesome!
   3. I’m brilliant!
   4. Everyday in every way I get better and better.
   5. The more I know myself the more I like myself.

Try to say these declarations at lease once or twice per day and you will see amazing changes in yourself and your life.

What is Self Esteem?

Self-esteem is a term used in psychology to reflect a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs (for example, "I am competent" or "I am incompetent") and emotions such as triumph, despair, pride and shame. Self-esteem can apply specifically to a particular dimension (for example, "I believe I am a good writer, and feel proud of that in particular") or have global extent (for example, "I believe I am a good person, and feel proud of myself in general").

NLP and Self-Hypnosis Can Help You Develop Total Self-confidence

Confidence is a frame of mind that is learned through experiences. When a person experiences success, that person will tend to expect to be successful. And that expectation will cause a feeling of confidence.

For example: A man wants to be an extreme fighter, so he gets a trainer and a manager. His manager will not setup a fight for him until he has acquired enough skill and stamina. And even then, the manager will only put him up against an opponent that he knows his fighter can surpass. When his fighter beats the adversary, he is successful, and starts to gain a feeling of faith in his capablilty.

With each engagement, the manager puts his warrior up against an opponent who is only a slightly better adversary then the last, but not good enough to beat his man. By the end of the third fight, the young contender begins to expect to win his fourth, and so his confidence continues to escalate. This scenario continues to repeat itself. And as long as the contender is victorious, his expectations of success, and his feelings of self-confidence will continue to escalate.

If a person who has a long history of success and feelings of self-confidence does fail, they still tend to expect success the next time out. Conversely, when a person who is weak in the self-confidence department fails, they tend to lose confidence, and begin to expect failure, which can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Having true self-confidence doesn't mean that individuals will be able to do everything. Most people who have true self-confidence have sober expectations. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to be positive and to accept themselves.

People who are not self-confident, tend to depend excessively on the recognition of others in order to feel good about themselves. They avoid risks because of the fear of failure. They often belittle themselves and tend to discount or ignore compliments that they do receive.

On the other side of the coin, self-confident people are willing to risk the disapproval of others because they generally have faith in their own potential. Just because a person does not have confidence, it does not mean that he/she doesn't have abilities. A lack of self-confidence is often the result of concentrating too strongly on the unreal expectancy of others, especially parents and friends. The affect of friends can be more powerful than those of parents in shaping the feelings about one's self.

Assumptions That Continue to Influence Self-Confidence

In response to external influences, people create assumptions; some of these are good and some are not. Several assumptions that can interfere with self-confidence and better ways of thinking are:

ASSUMPTION: I must always be successful at everything that I do. This is totally unrealistic. In real life, each person has her strengths and her weaknesses. While it's important to learn to do the best that one can, it's more important to learn to accept the self as being human, and fallible. Feel good about what you are good at, and accept the fact that you don't know everything and you are not an expert at everything.

ASSUMPTION: I must be perfect, and loved by everyone, and satisfy everyone. Again, this is totally unrealistic. All human beings are less than perfect. It's better to develop personal standards and values that are not completely dependent on the approval of others.

ASSUMPTION: Everything that happened to me in the past remains in control of my feelings and behaviors in the present.

ALTERNATIVE: While it is true that your confidence was especially subject to external influences when you were a young child, as you grow older, you can gain insight and a new slant on what those influences have been. In doing so, you can choose which influences you will continue to allow to have an effect on your life. You don't have to be helpless in the face of past events. HERE ARE SOME STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE

Emphasize Your Strengths. Bestow upon yourself credit for everything you can do. And give yourself credit for every new thing that you are willing to undertake. Take risks. Adopt the attitude of: I never fail, because there are NO failures. However, sometimes I find out what does not work, and once I've learned what doesn't work in a given situation, I can attempt some other action.

Use Self-Talk: Use self-talk as a method to counter harmful assumptions. Then, tell yourself to stop. Substitute more reasonable assumptions. For example, when you catch yourself expecting perfection, remind yourself that no one can do everything perfectly, and that it's only possible to do things to the best of your ability. This allows you to accept yourself while still improving.

Make mental movies: Visualize yourself in the various scenarios that you currently lack confidence in. But see yourself behaving as a person who has tremendous self-confidence would. There are powerful NLP and Hypnosis processes that you can use to build a monumental amount of self-confidence from within your unconscious mind. There are even NLP techniques that will let you take confidence that you do have in areas of your life, and then transplant that confidence to areas of your life that are lacking confidence!

Self-Evaluate: Learn to appraise yourself as an individual. Circumvent the constant sense of chaos that comes from relying too much on the opinions of others.

Tips for Writing Your Own Self Esteem Affirmations

HTML clipboard

Here are a few tips for you if you want to write your own Self Esteem Affirmations.

  1. Write your affirmations in the present tense. That means your statement should be something like "I am confident and self assured" and not "I am going to be confident and self assured".
  2. They must be written in the affirmative, that is, only use positive words like "I am", and "I do" and skip words like "don't", "stop", "no" and "not".
  3. They should be written in the first-person, in other words, the "I" point of view. Here is a short article about the differences between first person, second person and third person.
  4. Your affirmations should be about making positive change and moving toward what and who you want to be.

Here are a few examples:

"I'm confident and self assured, I can handle any situation that faces me."

"I take action everyday that leads me to my goals."

"I feel good about myself and forgive the mistakes of the past."

"I feel incredible joy and gratitude."

Of course, you should create your own affirmations based on how you want to feel and what you want to overcome.

Remember to keep them in the present tense, keep them positive, written in the first person, and focused on the change you want.
